Russia’s Trade with Australia

In the 3rd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Australia totaled $241,665,395, up 31.69% ($58,160,085) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Australia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $57,814,893, up 73.59% ($24,508,615) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Australia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $183,850,502, up 22.40% ($33,651,470) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Australia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 was $126,035,609, a 7.82% increase ($9,142,855) over the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Australia was Russia’s 74th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 70th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1159% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1344% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Australia was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 94th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0433% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0423% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Australia was Russia’s 46th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (up from 50th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.2449% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2593% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Australia

The major share of Russian exports to Australia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 44.89% of Russia’s total exports to Australia (31.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 33.99% of Russia’s total exports to Australia (36.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.70% of Russia’s total exports to Australia (12.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.93% of Russia’s total exports to Australia (5.79% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
