Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 4th quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh was $981,218,181, down 7.89% ($84,077,093) from the 4th quarter of 2020.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2021 were $691,644,944, down 19.84% ($171,174,259) from the 4th quarter of 2020.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2021 totaled $289,573,237, up 43.02% ($87,097,166) from the 4th quarter of 2020.
Russia’s trade surplus with Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2021 was $402,071,707, a 39.11% decrease ($258,271,425) over the 4th quarter of 2020.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 42nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2021 (down from 31st in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.4221% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.6574% in the 4th quarter of 2020).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 41st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2021 (down from 22nd in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.4593% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9137% in the 4th quarter of 2020).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 40th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2021 (up from 44th in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.3538% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2994% in the 4th quarter of 2020).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2021 (and in the 4th quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 55.87% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (64.46% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.92% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (18.37% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 15.98% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (10.86% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.25% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (0.98% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.62% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (3.58% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $31,603,068;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $21,743,178;
- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $7,392,652;
- Miscellaneous articles of base metal (HS code 83) - an increase of $4,489,817;
- Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $2,936,222;
- Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $2,087,348.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $142,194,646;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $64,566,238;
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $38,571,387;
