Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 4th quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $339,918,070, up 46.60% ($108,055,486) from the 4th quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2021 totaled $200,020,790, up 90.35% ($94,942,495) from the 4th quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2021 totaled $139,897,280, up 10.34% ($13,112,991) from the 4th quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade balance with the Philippines went from a deficit of $21,705,994 in the 4th quarter of 2020, to a surplus of $60,123,510 in the 4th quarter of 2021.

The Philippines was Russia’s 69th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2021 (down from 67th in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1462% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1431% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

The Philippines was Russia’s 64th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2021 (up from 72nd in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1328% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1113% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

The Philippines was Russia’s 59th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2021 (down from 58th in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1709% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1875% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2021 (and in the 4th quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 47.66% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (1.64% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 34.89% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (58.98% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.89% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (6.84% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.94% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (21.45% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.89% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (10.00% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.66% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.92% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $7,650,847;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $4,753,222;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $3,648,665;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $3,562,092;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $2,731,382;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $859,761.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $19,803,622;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,000,950.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2021 (and in the 4th quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 78.71% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (85.51% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 12.04% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (6.92% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.21% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.08% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
