Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 4th quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe totaled $18,209,812, up 65.90% ($7,233,311) from the 4th quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 totaled $3,448,417, up 61.58% ($1,314,193) from the 4th quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 totaled $14,761,395, up 66.94% ($5,919,118) from the 4th quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 was $11,312,978, a 68.65% increase ($4,604,925) over the 4th quarter of 2020.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 138th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2021 (down from 134th in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0078% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0068% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 144th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2021 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0023% of Russia’s total exports (just as in the 4th quarter of 2020).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 95th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2021 (up from 104th in the 4th quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0180% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0131% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 (and in the 4th quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 97.02% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (97.19% in the 4th quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.98% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (0.91% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,389,835;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $55,912;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $21,254.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $242,408.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 (and in the 4th quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.83% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (99.95% in the 4th quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $4,267,487;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $1,779,197.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2021 over the 4th quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
