Russia’s Trade with Japan
In 2021, Russia’s trade with Japan totaled $19,874,082,971, up 22.92% ($3,705,207,302) from 2020.
Russia’s exports to Japan in 2021 totaled $10,747,570,472, up 18.69% ($1,692,451,482) from 2020.
Russia’s imports from Japan in 2021 totaled $9,126,512,499, up 28.29% ($2,012,755,820) from 2020.
Russia’s trade surplus with Japan in 2021 was $1,621,057,973, a 16.50% decrease ($320,304,338) over 2020.
Japan was Russia’s 13th largest trading partner in 2021 (down from 11th in 2020), accounting for 2.5317% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.8475% in 2020).
Japan was Russia’s 12th largest export market in 2021 (just as in 2020), accounting for 2.1863% of Russia’s total exports (down from 2.6918% in 2020).
Japan was Russia’s 8th largest supplier in 2021 (just as in 2020), accounting for 3.1104% of Russia’s total imports (up from 3.0738% in 2020).
Russia’s Exports to Japan
The major share of Russian exports to Japan in 2021 (and in 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.74% of Russia’s total exports to Japan (7.90% in 2020);
